Museum Trustee, Prof. Sarah Brown is awarded the prestigious 2023 Plowden Medal for Conservation

We are delighted to hear that The Stained Glass Museum Trustee Prof. Sarah Brown has been awarded the prestigious 2023 Plowden Medal for Conservation, awarded annually to an individual who has made a significant contribution to the advancement of the conservation profession.
We are delighted to hear that The Stained Glass Museum Trustee Prof. Sarah Brown has been awarded the prestigious 2023 Plowden Medal for Conservation, awarded annually to an individual who has made a significant contribution to the advancement of the conservation profession.

This reward is in recognition of Sarah's significant contribution to stained glass conservation. Since 2016, Sarah has been a Trustee of the museum and its Conservation Advisor. She is Director of York Glaziers Trust and Professor at the University of York, where she convenes the MA in Stained Glass Conservation and Heritage Management programme. Sarah is also Chairman of the British committee of the Corpus Vitrearum Medii Aevi (CVMA).

The Plowden Medal was established in 1999 to commemorate the life and work of the late Hon. Anna Plowden CBE (1938 – 1997), the medal was endowed by the Royal Warrant Holders Association, of which she was Vice-President. It is awarded annually to an individual who has made a significant contribution to the advancement of the conservation profession. The award covers all aspects of conservation be they practical, theoretical or managerial – and is open to those working in private practice or institutions.
