The Stained Glass Museum and Coronavirus (COVID-19)

The Stained Glass Museum temporarily closed to the public on 19 March, in response to the fast moving and changeable nature of the COVID-19 outbreak.
The Stained Glass Museum is now temporarily closed to the public until further notice. Whilst this is a difficult decision faced by so many organisations at the moment, in response to the fast moving and changeable nature of the COVID-19 outbreak, the museum’s priority will always be the health and wellbeing of our staff, volunteers, workshop tutors and of course, our visitors.

Some of our planned activities, workshops and events have already been cancelled and those affected have been contacted. Please keep an eye on our website and social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram) for further advice on our future events as and when decisions are made.

As an independent museum and charity with no regular major sources of grant funding, the present situation is very challenging for us financially. We rely on the income we make from admissions, events, workshops, and shop sales to care for our collection and pay our staff. If you have booked for an event or workshop, we would ask you to consider using it for a rescheduled event, or donating it to the museum instead. There are several ways you can support us from a distance, by making an online donation or purchase.

During this temporary closure, we will continue to share our collection online through our website and social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram) . We encourage you to read and share our posts! Where possible, we will be sharing education resources and ideas for those now educating their children from home.

At this time of uncertainty for all, we ask you to remain sensible, look after one another, follow the guidance from your local health organisation, and support local businesses and charities where possible.

We look forward to welcoming our visitors back to the Museum as soon as we can. Thank you for your continued support.
