ST GABRIEL

Brief description: Lancet window of St Gabriel in scene with mountains, rainbow, doves and sheep. Designed by A A Orr, c1926. Rural tranquil scene (said to represent Rockley) in memory of the Great War 1914-1918. (See also war landscape of St Michael ELYGM:1974.2.5)

Simple arch with decorated border; three flying doves above head of Gabriel, without a halo, holding lilies in each hand; facing 3/4 left, youthful face, golden hair, red wings, cream and green robes. Two more doves fly in front of him; he is hovering above a landscape with mountains, rainbow and three kneeling sheep
