ARCHANGELS MICHAEL AND GABRIEL, THE LAST SUPPER, AND THE ARMS OF ALL SAINTS' CHURCH AND DIOCESE

Brief description: Stained glass window showing St Michael, the hand of God, the last supper, St Gabriel and saint, and the heraldic arms of All Saints' Church and Diocese. Designed and made by John Hayward, 1958

This colourful scheme of five lancet windows shows The Last Supper with the arms of All Saint's church, where they were originally installed in the chancel. The central light features a representation of the Holy Trinity; the hand of God and dove of the Holy Spirit descend upon Jesus Christ who is seated at the head of the table. The Archangels Michael and Gabriel watch the scene from above. This glass originally filled five separate window openings in the Chancel of All Saint's Church, Pimlico, London, now demolished. It was one of John Hayward's first significant commissions.
