Our team would love to welcome you to our stunning stained glass museum. For schools, our workshops provide meaningful opportunities to explore the National Curriculum through active, out-of-classroom activities inspired by a truly unique museum collection.

ABOUT YOUR VISIT

How much will it cost?
Our visits usually cost £4.50 per student for a half day (2 hours session typically 10:00-12:00) or £6.00 per student for a full day (Typically 10:00-2:00 with use of lunch space and toilet facilities that are shared with Ely cathedral.)

What will we do on our visit?
We offer a range of sessions covering many areas of the curriculum. Read about the sessions by clicking on the pictures above.

If you would like to come and see us but can’t see a session that suits your needs we can create a bespoke session for your group. Just get in touch with us using the enquiry form above. Similarly, if you see a session that you would like but it is aimed at a different key stage please ask as we are usually able to adapt the session to a different age group.

We do work with the other educational settings that are all in 5 minutes walking distance from us (Ely Cathedral, Ely Museum and Oliver Cromwell’s House) so it is possible to combine 2 settings for a day trip and we would do the liaising for you.

Can we visit with children with additional learning needs?
We love to share our beautiful collection with everyone and will do everything we can to accommodate any additional needs that you have in your group. Just let us know what those needs are when you book and we can plan your learning session accordingly. Most of our sessions can be adapted for the needs of your group. If you are visiting with child with physical needs please bear in mind that we are situated at the top of a spiral stone staircase.

Where are you located?
The Museum is in Ely Cathedral, just on the right hand side as you go through the main front door. It is accessed by a stone spiral staircase (40 stairs). For those unable to access the Museum, a touchscreen virtual tour is available on the ground floor.

Toilet and lunch facilities are shared with Ely Cathedral.

There are coach drop-off bays directly outside the main doors of the Cathedral (CB7 4DL). Further bays and long term coach parking are available in Barton Road Car Park (CB7 4DX) which is only a 5 minute walk from the Cathedral.

Ely train station is a 15 minute walk away.

What happens if I need to cancel?
● For cancellations made more than 28 days in advance there will be no charge.
● For cancellations made between 7 and 28 days in advance there will be a 50% charge, or one free date change.
● For cancellations made less than 7 days in advance 100% of the booked activity will be charged, or we will allow one free date change.

If a date change has already been requested we cannot offer a refund on any subsequent cancellation and the full amount will be charged. Please bear in mind that The Stained Glass Museum is a registered charity (No. 1169842) and in order to operate successfully it is important that we adhere to this policy.

Under rare or exceptional circumstances, the Museum may have to cancel a booking. If a cancellation is necessary, we will do our utmost to contact you as soon as possible. You will be offered the option to transfer the booking to an alternative date/workshop, or to cancel your booking without charge.
