ST LUKE

Brief description: Two-panel light of St Luke designed by Edward Burne-Jones and made by Morris and Company in 1910=1912. Italianate style. St Luke stands with book on knee, writing, with calf head looking over his shoulder. Foliage and inscribed scroll at top.

St Luke light. Foliage at top, scroll with inscription at top. In the background St Luke's evangelist symbol, the winged ox can be seen, nimbed, looking over shoulder of Luke, facing 3/4 right, nimbed with biblical headdress. Luke's right foot rests on a tree trunk, he is shown with a book on knee, pen in his right hand writing the Gospel of St Luke.
