ST MARGARET CLITHEROW
Brief description: Working cartoon for a stained glass panel depicting St. Margaret Clitherow
A black and white full-scale cartoon drawing for a stained glass panel depicting St. Margaret Clitherow. She holds a book, keys and a bowl with jugs. Two coloured heraldic shields, one left, one right. The cartoon shows the outlines of each piece of glass where the lead lines are to be placed. St. Margaret Clitherow (1556-1586) bravely sheltered Catholic priests in her house when this was punishable by death. She refused to enter a plea and was pressed to death, despite her pregnancy, the standard punishment for such a refusal.
