Brief description: Colour photograph of a single panel on a workbench Christ blessing a crowd of travellers. Designed at the Goddard and Gibbs Studio, London
This panel is based on a famous quote from Matthew 11:28: 'Come to me all you who are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest'. Christ, dressed in a white robe and cloak, nimbed with a cruciform halo, and surrounded by red light, extends his hand towards a queue. Those at the front of the queue are setting down the burdens on their backs: those at the back are still encumbered. Right at the back, a man drives oxen. On the left, two men in then-modern suits look on. At the top, the hand of God sends a beam of light upon Christ's head, and Matthew 11:28 is written in a rainbow. The bottom of the window features a memorial inscription. Written on reverse 'Please return to Mr S Radcliffe'. Goddard & Gibbs, founded from a merger of Walter Gibbs & Sons and Goddard's Glass Works in 1938, were prominent makers of stained glass for the international market and also conserved and restored glass.
