Brief description: Colour photograph of a 2 light window with depicting a Friar and St Walburga. Designed at the Goddard and Gibbs Studio, London
This window celebrates the life of Friar Bonaventure M. Scebberas, the parish priest of the Church. Scebberas (1876-1948) was notable for founding the first order of Franciscan friars in England since the Reformation. On the left is a Franciscan friar in a black habit and dark cloak. He carries a bible, rosary, and crozier (bishop's staff). On the floor beside him is a mitre (bishop's hat). The right-hand light depicts St. Walburga (c.710-779), an English nun who performed missionary work to the Frankish Empire. She is dressed as a nun, and carries an abbess' crozier. The parish church is depicted behind her. Goddard & Gibbs, founded from a merger of Walter Gibbs & Sons and Goddard's Glass Works in 1938, were prominent makers of stained glass for the international market and also conserved and restored glass.
