Brief description: Black and white photograph of a two light window depicting St Mark and St John. Designed at the Goddard and Gibbs studio, London
St. Mark and St. John are two of the four gospel-writers. On the left, St. Mark, dressed in a robe and cloak with patterned trim, clutches a bible against his chest. He has short hair and a pointed beard, and looks towards St. John. On the right, St. John is dressed in a similar robe and cloak with a patterned trim. He holds a eucharistic chalice in one hand, and a bible in the other. He is clean-shaven, and looks piously downwards. Both figures stand on a sphere above a commemorative inscription, and are surrounded by a thin border. The rest of the lights are made up of plain rectangular quarries. Commissioned by Lula Davis. Goddard and Gibbs job number 21/78436, LON 3604. Goddard & Gibbs, founded from a merger of Walter Gibbs & Sons and Goddard's Glass Works in 1938, were prominent makers of stained glass for the international market and also conserved and restored glass.
