Brief description: Black and white photograph of a 2 light, 4 tracery light window depicting events from the life of St. Paul. Designed at the Goddard and Gibbs studio, London
St. Paul was a significant Christian teacher in the years following Christ's death, and this window presents four scenes from the beginning of his life. In the top left, Paul, then known as Saul, falls from his camel, struck blind by a dazzling light from heaven and the voice of God (Acts 9-1:7). On the right, Paul, converted, preaches the gospel to crowds in Damascus (Acts 9:19-22). At the bottom left, Paul is brought before the magistrate in Jerusalem, the first of several arrests for his preaching (Acts 16:9-20). On the right, Paul is shown converting his guards to Christianity (Acts 16:30-33). The tracery lights show Christ making a gesture of blessing and an open book with a Latin inscription. Window commissioned by Rev P Stead. On reverse - 2. 112x 22, 2. 30 x 9, 2 12 x 6 39ft, Ex works, £400. Goddard and Gibbs job number 21/75415, LON 2987.
