Brief description: Black and white photograph of a 2 light window depicting Christ's resurrection. Designed at the Goddard and Gibbs studio, London
This two light window shows the events of Christ's resurrection. On the left, an angel sits on the tomb and tells three of Jesus' female disciples, all named Mary, that he is not there. The angel gestures to heaven as the Maries fall to their knees in shock. On the right, we see the story the angel is telling. Christ steps out of his tomb, wrapped only in his burial shroud and nimbed with a cruciform halo. He carries a cross-topped staff with a pennant, representing his victory over death, and raises his other hand in a gesture of blessing. The soldier who is supposed be guarding his tomb sleeps at his feet, clutching his armour and spear close. The top and bottom of each light is decorated with an elaborate pattern of diamond quarries. On reverse - 2.19 x 21 APD, 34' £390, Window 'G'. Goddard and Gibbs job number 21/74606/B, LON 2971.
