Brief description: Black and white photograph of a 3 light window depicting Mary. Designed at the Goddard and Gibbs studio, London
This interesting window has its subject emerge out of the complex leading of the background. In the centre, wings stretching across the three lights, a figure hovers. They are wearing a crown, hold a Eucharistic chalice, and are surrounded by sketchy stars. The stars and crown may indicate the subject is Mary as Queen of Heaven, or it may be an angel. Window for Church at Ockenden, Leigh on Sea, commissioned by E J Smith. Goddard and Gibbs job number 21/80402 LON 4424. Goddard & Gibbs, founded from a merger of Walter Gibbs & Sons and Goddard's Glass Works in 1938, were prominent makers of stained glass for the international market and also conserved and restored glass.
