This window serves as a memorial for the Second World War. On the top left, St. George, patron saint of England, stands resplendent in full plate armour, holding a sword and shield. A St. George cross adorns his tunic and shield. On the top right, St. Margaret of Scotland (1045-1093), Queen of Scotland and noted for her piety and religious reforms, holds a cross. She wears a crown and a headdress. Below St. George, a group of soldiers and airmen gather, two kneeling. A woman with a headscarf stands beside them. Below St. Margaret, sailors, a priest, a policeman, and women in RAF uniforms gather. The four tracery lights, depicted on the right, depict military crests. From left to right, top to bottom, they are the crest of the Royal Navy, the British Army, the Royal Air Force, and Merchant Navy. Window designed for Methodist Church, Hawkeys Lane, North Shields. Goddard and Gibbs job number 21/11854 FAN 2903. Goddard & Gibbs, founded from a merger of Walter Gibbs & Sons and Goddard's Glass Works in 1938, were prominent makers of stained glass for the international market and also conserved and restored glass.
