Brief description: Black and white photograph of a three light window depicting the nativity. Designed at the Goddard and Gibbs studio, London
This window depicts the nativity across three lights, against a background of plain rectangular quarries. In the centre, St. Joseph, holding a staff, stretches a protective arm over his wife, the Virgin Mary. She kneels, gazing at her son Christ, who fidgets in the manger. Around him, three shepherds and their sheep look on in wonder. A donkey and an ox peer around the holy family. The Star of Bethlehem shines from the top of the central light, its light beaming down upon the scene. Commissioned by Rev Skecerziner for St John's Church, Palmers Green. On reverse, '3 - 84x20 35 inches and tracery. Total fit 42 £356.0.0. Goddard and Gibbs job number 21/77318 LON 2872. Goddard & Gibbs, founded from a merger of Walter Gibbs & Sons and Goddard's Glass Works in 1938, were prominent makers of stained glass for the international market and also conserved and restored glass.
