This scene, contained in an ornate frame, shows Christ preparing the first Eucharist at the Last Supper. He is dressed in red, with a white robe draped over his shoulders, and nimbed with a cruciform halo. He breaks a loaf of bread between his hands, and a cup of wine sits on the table. Two disciples are with him. The one on the left, dressed in yellow with a similar white cloak over his shoulders, watches attentively with interlaced hands. The on the right, dressed in white with a purple cloak, stands up and raises an objecting hand. This is perhaps a disciple claiming he will not betray Christ. All three men are barefoot, and a starry sky shows out of the windows behind them. Design for the Methodist Church in Thorpe Bay, likely by A E Buss. Arthur Edward Buss (1905-1999) joined Goddard & Gibbs in 1946.
