This window depicts the four seasons in four roundels, against a background of plain quarries. At the top, Winter is represented by a bare tree, surrounded by snow-covered pines and illuminated by the light of a crescent moon. A fire has started at the base of the tree, and an owl and stoat look on in concern. Spring is represented by a tree in blossom, with a running hare and nesting bird on the ground below. Summer is represented by a field full of flowering plants, with sunflowers turning towards the blazing sun and a pheasant strutting around. Autumn is depicted by colourful trees bearing apples, and birds flying by. The window was donated by the Worshipful Company of Gardeners for the staircase of Red Oaks care home, run by the Gardener's Royal Benevolent Society. Written on reverse 'Please return to Mr S Radcliffe'. Goddard & Gibbs, founded from a merger of Walter Gibbs & Sons and Goddard's Glass Works in 1938, were prominent makers of stained glass for the international market and also conserved and restored glass.
