The photograph is of a single light window depicting a galleon in sail. The window is dedicated to Kenneth Grahame, author of Wind in the Willows, and alumni of St Edwards School, Oxford. Also inscribed are 'The walls were of jasper' a phrase from Kenneth Grahame's short story 'Its Walls Were as of Jasper' a chapter in his book Dream Days, which describes a fantastical walled town conjured from childhood imagination, reflecting Grahame's themes of childhood wonder and dreams, similar to his famous The Golden Age. The window was designed by Christopher Webb (1886–1966), an English stained glass designer based in St Albans, Hertfordshire. He studied at the Slade School of Art and was then articled to Sir Ninian Comper. During his active career from 1920 to 1964 he produced over 400 windows with a distinctive character and style.
