Brief description: Design for a 4 light stained glass window depicting the Annunciation and saints
Proposed stained glass design depicting St John the Baptist in the left light, the Annunciation in the centre lights and St George in the right hand light, all are supported by angels. John the Baptist holds a staff and a disc depicting a lamb, representing his identification of Jesus as 'The Lamb of God'. St John's cross is above him. The Annunciation is a traditional scene in which the Archangel Gabriel tells the Virgin Mary she is pregnant with Jesus. Mary stands, pointing at herself in disbelief, as Gabriel kneels before her. A light from heaven shines upon her. On the right, St. George stands in plate armour, foot planted on the throat of a snarling green dragon. He holds a pennant with the English flag. St George's cross is above him. Angels hold scrolls with biblical quotes and the names of the saints above and below. This design was created by Christopher Webb (1886–1966), an English stained glass designer based in St Albans, Hertfordshire. He studied at the Slade School of Art and was then articled to Sir Ninian Comper. During his active career from 1920 to 1964 he produced over 400 windows with a distinctive character and style.
