Brief description: Design for a 3 light stained glass window depicting Mary and St Michael
Proposed design for a 3 light window depicting Mary Queen of Sun and Stars in the centre light, St Michael in the left hand light and angels in the right hand light with an inscription. These scenes are inspired by events in the Book of Revelation, where St. Michael and his angels fight a dragon who has threatened a pregnant woman, representing the Virgin Mary (Revelation 12:1-9). Here, the Virgin Mary holds a crowned infant Jesus proudly aloft, as the seven-headed dragon snaps round her feet and St. Michael's spearmen and archers prepare for battle. The window is set against a quarry background. This design was created by Christopher Webb (1886–1966), an English stained glass designer based in St Albans, Hertfordshire. He studied at the Slade School of Art and was then articled to Sir Ninian Comper. During his active career from 1920 to 1964 he produced over 400 windows with a distinctive character and style.
