Brief description: Incomplete design for a 2 light stained glass window depicting 3 options
An unfinished proposed stained glass window for the window on the north side of the chancel - a two light window with one confirmed light and two options presented for the second, the Madonna and Child and St. Elizabeth with John the Baptist. Both options suit the theme of Christian mothers. We can see from ELYGM:2024.14.33 that the client chose the latter. St. John the Baptist's pose is near-identical to ELYGM:2024.14.14, indicating some recycling of design elements. This design was created by Christopher Webb (1886–1966), an English stained glass designer based in St Albans, Hertfordshire. He studied at the Slade School of Art and was then articled to Sir Ninian Comper. During his active career from 1920 to 1964 he produced over 400 windows with a distinctive character and style.
