Brief description: Design for a 4 light stained glass window depicting the nativity and Christ in the temple
Proposed design for a 4 light window in the North Chapel, depicting the nativity in the two left hand lights and Christ in the temple in the two right hand lights. Each scene is set against a clear diamond quarry background, surrounded by vines and florals. Smaller scenes from the life of Christ are depicted in the lights including the annunciation and resurrection. The tracery lights include heraldic shields, angels and Adam and Eve. At the bottom of the design is the reredos, designed by W H Randoll Blacking. This design was created by Christopher Webb (1886–1966), an English stained glass designer based in St Albans, Hertfordshire. He studied at the Slade School of Art and was then articled to Sir Ninian Comper. During his active career from 1920 to 1964 he produced over 400 windows with a distinctive character and style.
