Brief description: Design for a 3 light stained glass window depicting a Risen Christ with angels, saints and soldiers
Proposed design for a 3 light window depicting the crucifixion. Angels are depicted in the left and right lights, with Christ, carrying the cross, in the centre light. At the bottom of the lights, a soldier and St Michael are shown in the left hand light, St George at the dragon in the centre light and an airman, seaman and nurse in the right hand light. All are turned towards Christ. The Horsemen of the Apocalypse are depicted in the apex of the lights. The window has a clear diamond quarry background with roses and thorned vines woven throughout. A scroll with space for an inscription is at the bottom. There are distinct changes made between the design and the final window. This design was created by Christopher Webb (1886–1966), an English stained glass designer based in St Albans, Hertfordshire. He studied at the Slade School of Art and was then articled to Sir Ninian Comper. During his active career from 1920 to 1964 he produced over 400 windows with a distinctive character and style.
