Brief description: Design for a 3 light stained glass window depicting the Crucifixion and scenes from the life of Christ
Proposed design for a 3 light East window depicting the crucifixion and scenes from the life of Christ. In the left light Jesus calms the storm and angels are depicting holding shields with the crown of thorns and wheat sheaf. The central light depicts the crucifixion and the last supper. The right hand light shows Christ preaching with angels holding shields with spears and grapes. Christ in majesty is depicted in the tracery and the window is framed with a branch and banners weaved between the lights. A banner with inscription spans the 3 lights. This design was created by Christopher Webb (1886–1966), an English stained glass designer based in St Albans, Hertfordshire. He studied at the Slade School of Art and was then articled to Sir Ninian Comper. During his active career from 1920 to 1964 he produced over 400 windows with a distinctive character and style.
