Brief description: Design for a single light stained glass window depicting a young St John the Baptist
Proposed stained glass design for the west window depicting a young St. John the Baptist. A plain quarry window with a central design, wrapped in a banner quoting Luke 1:76. St. John the Baptist, here depicted as a child, nevertheless appears with his future attributes, the camel-hair loincloth and cross-topped staff. He strides forward through a field of grain, and birds flutter around him. This design was created by Christopher Webb (1886–1966), an English stained glass designer based in St Albans, Hertfordshire. He studied at the Slade School of Art and was then articled to Sir Ninian Comper. During his active career from 1920 to 1964 he produced over 400 windows with a distinctive character and style.
