Brief description: Design for a single light stained glass window depicting an angel and St Peter
A quarry window with a scene depicting an angel releasing St. Peter from prison (Acts 12:7-9). The angel floats in front of him, resplendent in gold and white, with beautiful flame-coloured wings. They gesture upwards. St. Peter, bewildered, shields his eyes and pushes himself up. A chain attached to the wall runs underneath him. The figures are enclosed within a floral swag, and a banner quotes the angel's words to Peter. An alternative design for this commission can be found at ELYGM:2024.14.127, offering an insight into the design process. This window is a memorial window to Leonard Frederick Foster 1887-1945. This design was created by Christopher Webb (1886–1966), an English stained glass designer based in St Albans, Hertfordshire. He studied at the Slade School of Art and was then articled to Sir Ninian Comper. During his active career from 1920 to 1964 he produced over 400 windows with a distinctive character and style.
