Brief description: Design for a 2 light stained glass window depicting Christ in the temple
Proposed design for the baptistry window depicting Christ being found in the temple, within a floral wreath. The Virgin Mary embraces a remorseless Christ, whilst St. Joseph gestures angrily. To the left, rabbis flick through books, count on their fingers, and look generally puzzled. A small boy sitting in the foreground shoots Christ an angry look. Below, Christ is baptised before a crowd by St. John the Baptist. The window is set against a diamond quarry background. This design was created by Christopher Webb (1886–1966), an English stained glass designer based in St Albans, Hertfordshire. He studied at the Slade School of Art and was then articled to Sir Ninian Comper. During his active career from 1920 to 1964 he produced over 400 windows with a distinctive character and style.
