Brief description: Design for a 2 light stained glass window depicting Christ and several children
Proposed stained glass design for the east window depicting Christ blessing the children, against a quarry background with banner inscription. Here, Christ, dressed in white, places his hands on the heads of two small children in then-contemporary dress. On the left, two women and three children in historical clothing look on. A field with flowers and a rabbit stretches out behind them, and a banner quotes the original biblical passage, Matthew 19:14. This design was created by Christopher Webb (1886–1966), an English stained glass designer based in St Albans, Hertfordshire. He studied at the Slade School of Art and was then articled to Sir Ninian Comper. During his active career from 1920 to 1964 he produced over 400 windows with a distinctive character and style.
