ST ANTHONY
Brief description: St Anthony (1949), a stained glass panel by Geoffrey Clarke (1925-2014)
This panel, depicting Saint Anthony, was made by Geoffrey Clarke (1925-2014) while he was still a student in the stained glass department at the Royal College of Art, London. It is the largest surviving example of stained glass from Clarke’s student years and was exhibited together with a panel entitled ‘Priest’ (1949) at the Royal College of Art Exhibition of 1950, held in the galleries of the Royal Society of British Artists, where it attracted the attention of both critics and the public.
