CHRIST IN THE CARPENTER'S SHOP

Brief description: Bottom panel of a single stained glass light depicting Jesus with Joseph and Mary in Joseph's carpenters shop. This panel shows the bottom half of Christ's body (wearing yellow) sawing a plank of wood. The legs of his father Jospeh can be seen behind. A donkey can be seen in the bottom right corner. Designed by Edward Woore and made by Joseph Bell and Son.

This is the lower panel of a single stained glass light depicting the young boy Jesus in Joseph's workshop. The plank of wood that Jesus is sawing has been painted carefully to show the grain in the wood, and the same level of detail can be seen in the wood shavings on the floor by Joseph's feet. A donkey can be seen stepping out of the frame in the bottom right corner of the panel. The donkey is eating a branch and symbolises Christ's later entry into Jerusalem. At the bottom of the panel is a wide border of streaky slab glass, with ornamental lead pattern showing a diamond inside an oval.
