Augmented Reality App
Explore the gallery in augmented reality and find out more about the architectural context of some of the panels on display, from the original buildings, the artists, and much more with this free app.
What is Augmented Reality?
Augmented reality allows us, through the use of a phone or tablet, to create a ‘real world environment’ where we can display a new layer of information on top of what we can see with the naked eye. It allows us to create new exhibition spaces and share more information about our windows.
Who can use it?
Currently, anyone who is able to download the app onto their Android device via the Google Play store or by using the museum’s tablet.
What will I see?
With limited space in the gallery, this app allows us to share more architectural and artistic context information about the window. Each window has different things available to see, but it could include the initial designs, more about the artist, the original building or archive photographs too.
How does it work?
1. Download and open The Stained Glass Museum app.
2. Select the ‘Start’ button on the home page.
3. Point the camera at the window and hold it still whilst the camera scans the window.
4. Follow the arrows to find out more about the window.
