Two Day Glass Stained Glass Workshop with Will Burrows
2 Oct. 2026 10:00-4:00 - 3 Oct. 2026

Event category: Adult Workshop

Price: £280 per person including all materials, equipment and tuition
Location: The Stained Glass Museum & Lighthouse Ely
Book

Over two days, you’ll explore the full process of creating a traditional stained glass panel, with painted elements.

On day one, you’ll begin by choosing your design from a selection of patterns. With guidance from your tutor, you’ll learn how to score glass to achieve an accurate break, and how to grind the edges to achieve a precise fit. You will select coloured glass for your painted areas, and then be introduced to traditional glass painting techniques. You’ll experiment with applying the enamel paint through brushwork and stencils, and your painted pieces will be kiln-fired at intervals throughout the day, ready for assembly on day two.

The second day focuses on the construction of your panel. You’ll learn how to cut and shape the lead came, and assemble the individual pieces of glass on a wooden board to create a complete stained glass panel. You’ll then solder your work to bond the lead joints. As a finishing touch, you can ask your tutor to solder hanging fixings to the lead, or alternatively they will provide you with a display stand for your work.

Two Day Screen Printing on Glass Masterclass with James Cockerill

Event category: Adult Workshop

Price: £350 per person including materials, equipment and tuition
Location: The Stained Glass Museum

In this exclusive masterclass, award winning artist James Cockerill of HALTglass will share his knowledge and innovative methods as he guides you through the process of creating a bespoke screen printed glass artwork.

Learning will be hands-on, with skills and concepts taught through practical application as you create a glass artwork. Prior to attending, James will work with you to select four of your own images, which he will then prepare into screens. You will also have access to James’s large selection of screens prepared with his own stock images. During the masterclass, these screens will form the basis of your artwork. Using your bespoke screens, specialist paints and enamels, you will learn to compose and print your images, overlaying them on both sides of float glass. Your glass will then be kiln-fired to make permanent its collaged images. In addition to tuition of technique, James will demonstrate how images are prepared for printing using Photoshop and will offer advice on how to integrate screen printing into your creative work, drawing on his own diverse art practice.
