Content
An interactive 2 hour session for our youngest visitors exploring the textures and colours hidden in our beautiful collection, with lots of interesting images to count on the way! Children will see work from the past and present and talk about the similarities and differences of these windows. We will follow the footprints around the Museum joining in with games, stories and activities. After finding the textures and colours that are needed, the children will get the chance to create their own beautiful window craft to take home with them. This session is designed to support young children in developing their skills in Maths, expressive art and design, understanding the world and PSED.

CYRIL THE SQUIRREL

Come and meet our friend Cyril the squirrel who lives in the Bishop’s garden. One day he decides to come and visit the beautiful glass in the Stained Glass Museum. Journey with Cyril as he discovers a range of animals hidden in the glass. Can you find all the animals that Cyril found? Make your own Cyril the squirrel stained glass inspired craft to take back to school with you. This session is designed to support young children in developing their communication and language skills, personal, social and emotional development and expressive art and design. (for KS1 art, history, English and PSED) This is a two hour session including breaks.

DISCOVER STAINED GLASS


Suitable for: KS1

Content
In this interactive 2 hour session you will meet Theophilus the Monk. He will teach you all about the making of stained glass from how the glass is made, blown, coloured, cut and painted right through to how it is all fitted together . The children will be shown artifacts from all the stages during this practical session. They will then go on to explore the gallery looking for images from windows that Theophilus needs to complete his special window. The children will then go to the studio and create their own stained glass inspired craft to take back to school with them. The session is designed to children in developing their skills in art, history and R.E.

STAINED GLASS INSPIRED ACRYLIC PAINTING


Suitable for: Year 2 and above

Content
Pupils will have time to explore the Museum and collect details and motifs from the panels on display. They will then be supported to turn these into a design for a final piece, which they will transfer onto acrylic using special paints and pens, creating a freestanding translucent colourful artwork. This is a one hour session and could be combined with one of our half day sessions to make a full day. This session supports learning in art and design and history.
