This panel may have been used as a sampler to demonstrate typography. Much slab glass with streaky gold and pink colours have been used in the background, which is painted with cross-hatching. Moira Forsyth began her career in the pottery industry, learning her skills at the Burslem Potteries School of Art where her father was the principal. She was asked to exhibit her ceramic figures at the White City Exhibition of 1925 and orders flooded in from all over the world. Sadly the General Strike of 1926 meant that she could not get her work fired. At this point she won a National Scholarship to the Royal College of Art and changed from ceramics to glass. Moira Forsyth worked for many years at the celebrated Glass House in Fulham.
